８６―エイティシックス―Ep.5 ―死よ、驕るなかれ―

ギアーテ連邦、第86機動打撃群の次の戦場は隣国のロア＝グレキア連合王国であった。

殺戮機械であるレギオンがシンに告げた”探しに来なさい”という言葉... その真意を、レギオン開発者ゼレーネの足跡を追って、連合王国へと向かう。

目標はレギオン指揮官機、無慈悲な女王の鹵獲である。

また、これは連邦から連合王国への事実上の救援でもあった。

連合王国の指揮官は18歳という若さで異能の血統、イディナローク王室の王子、ヴィークトルである。

ヴィークトルと対面したシンは、その側近であるレルヒェという少女に驚きを覚える。

その少女からはレギオンと同じ、死者の声が聞こえるのだった。

その正体は死者の脳から作られた人造妖精＜シリン＞であり、連合王国の半自立戦闘機＜アスカノスト＞の制御コアユニットであった。

つまり８６は人間ではないから... 人型をした家畜だから８６が乗っていても有人機ではなく無人機であるという共和国の発想と同じものであった。

こうして雪山の厳しい環境の中、連邦と連合王国の共同戦線は進んでいく...

８６の第5弾、連合王国編。

今作はレギオンとの戦闘シーンが多いが、聞きなれない言葉も多いので少々読みづらいかもしれない。

内容も生や死、人間とは何かを問うようなやや重たいもので、好き嫌いが分かれれだろう。

そんな中でアンジュがダスティンと雪山で罠にかかり、遭難してしまうシーンはもっとページ数をかけて展開してほしかった。

あっさりと救助されてしまい、命がけの戦争の中でも恋心が芽生える若者のシーンとして、もう少し緩いシーンが多くてもいいのになと思う。

ただ、どんどん進化していくレギオンや、少しずつ見えてきたレギオンを指揮する存在等、ストーリーとしてはとても面白く、今後の展開がさらに楽しみである。

The next battlefield for the Giad Federation’s 86th Mobile Strike Group was the neighboring Roa=Gracia Union Kingdom.

The words "come and find me" told to Shin by the Legion, a killing machine... He heads to the Union Kingdom, following the footsteps of the Legion developer, Zelene, to understand the true meaning of these words.

Their target is the capture of the Legion's commanding unit, the merciless queen.

Also, this was essentially an act of aid from the Federation to the Union Kingdom.

The commander of the Union Kingdom is the 18-year-old prince of the Idinarock royal family, known for their extraordinary lineage, Viktor.

Upon meeting Viktor, Shin is surprised by a girl named Lerche, his close aide.

From this girl, he hears the same voices of the dead as the Legion.

Her true identity is an artificial fairy , made from the brains of the dead, serving as the control core unit for the Union Kingdom's semi-autonomous fighter .

In other words, the 86 are not human... Just like the Republic’s notion that they are livestock in human form, so a machine piloted by an 86 is unmanned, not manned.

Thus, in the harsh environment of the snowy mountains, the joint front of the Federation and the Union Kingdom progresses...

The 5th installment of 86, the Union Kingdom arc.

This work has many battle scenes with the Legion, but it may be a bit difficult to read due to many unfamiliar terms.

The content is somewhat heavy, pondering life, death, and what it means to be human, and will likely be divisive in taste.

In the midst of this, the scene where Anju and Dustin are trapped in a snow mountain and get lost was a part I wished had been developed over more pages.

They are rescued too easily, and I thought there could have been more gentle scenes showing the blossoming of love among young people even amidst a life-threatening war.

However, the evolving Legion and the gradually emerging existence commanding the Legion make the story very interesting, and I'm looking forward to future developments.
