ー音乃木坂学院入学式、同日の午後ー

二人の女の子が校舎内の廊下を歩いている。

一人の女の子はダンスを踊るかのように、軽やかな足取りで、もう一人の女の子は足の裏をするように自信なさげな様子で対照的な姿である。

「かーよーちん、今日こそは、これからどうするか決めないとだよ。

もう来週から新入生も入ってくるんだからね。」

足取りの重い女の子に声をかけたのは、星空凛である。

音ノ木坂学院の2年生で、μ's二代目リーダーを務めた凛は、運動神経抜群の女の子であり、明るく元気で活発である。

成績は良くない（特に英語は絶望的）が、その類まれな運動神経は常に運動部からスカウトが来るくらい秀でている。

言葉の語尾ににゃーをつけるのが特徴であり、本人曰く猫と話せるらしい。

「う、うん...そうだね...そろそろ決めないとね...」

一方、自信なさげにそう返事をしたのは、小泉花陽である。

音ノ木坂学院2年生でスクールアイドル部二代目部長を務めている。 （初代部長はもちろん矢澤にこである）

誰にも負けないぐらいアイドルを愛している花陽であるが、普段はおとなしい性格で声も小さく目立つことが苦手である。

またアイドルと同じぐらい白米を愛しており、その食欲はμ'sの中でも穂乃果と並び桁違いであった。

本人曰く、利き白米ができるらしい。

口癖はダレカタスケテーであり、困った時とかによく使っている。

そんな花陽と凛は子供の時からの幼馴染であり、いつも一緒にいるぐらい仲がよいのだ。

この二人に真姫を加えたμ'sの年少組は4月から2年生へと進級していた。

そして花陽は、卒業したい矢澤にこからスクールアイドル部部長の座を引き継いだのである。

今日はスクールアイドル部、花陽にとって何かを決める重要な日らしい。

「ねえ...凛ちゃんはどうしたらいいと思う？」

自信なさそうにぼそっと小さい声で尋ねる花陽。

「うーん、そうだな。凛はかよちんの決めた事について行くにゃ。

だってかよちんはスクールアイドル部の部長だもん」

相変わらずな様子の二人であった。

部長になったはいいものの、普段の花陽は今までとあまり変わっていない。

μ'sの時はあれほど生き生きしており、アイドルのことになると人が変わったかのようになる花陽だが、自分が中心になったり何かを決めたりするというのは苦手だった。

というより、本人は今でも向いてないと思っているくらいである。

一方の凛もしかりである。

花陽と同様に自分に対して自信がなく、女の子っぽくないところがコンプレックスだったり。

（実際はショートカットのだけで十分に可愛らしい女の子である...）

とあるファッションショーのイベントでのライブを機に、多少は自分に対して自信を持てるようになってはいたが、それでも自分から積極的に前に出たりするのは苦手だった。

また凛曰く、前世が猫だったためがゆえ、気まぐれな性格というのもあってのことだろう。

「ところで午前中の入学式はどうだったんだろうね」

「あれかよちん、真姫ちゃんからのメール見てないのかにゃ？」

「あっ、見たよ。そういう意味じゃなくて、ほら私たちの入学式の時って一クラス28人だけだったから。

今年はすごいたくさんの人数だからどうだったんだろうと思って。」

あぁ、なるほどね。どうだったんだろうね。

凛たちの時は人数少なくて、広い体育館で少し寂しかったけど、今年は50倍くらいの人数だもんね。

それに穂乃果ちゃんが歌ったみたいだし、きっと楽しくて盛り上がった入学式だったと思うにゃ。」

50倍くらいって凛ちゃん適当だなぁ、さすがは前世が気まぐれな猫だなと思う花陽であった。

それに盛り上がる入学式って、一体何だろうと思う花陽だったが、実際凛の言うとおり入学式は盛大に盛り上がっていた。

それこそまるでライブ会場かのごとくである。

そんな会話をしつつ、二人は部屋へと向かっていた。

「そういえば、今日もにこちゃん来るのかな？」

「どうせ来るにゃー、にこちゃん暇みたいだもん」

「今日来たら...6日連続だよね。にこちゃんもそろそろ短大が始まる頃だよね」

「きっとにこちゃんは、短大始まっても来るにゃ」

「確かに...にこちゃんの学校って市ヶ谷だよね。

秋葉から近いし、にこちゃんなら来そうだよね」

「100%来るにゃー、だってにこちゃんだもん。」

偉大なる矢沢先輩の噂話をしながら、楽しそうに歩く二人である。

だが部室の前に着いて、凛がふと気づく。

「あれ部室の鍵が空いてるにゃ。みんなもう来てるのかな？」

凛のいうみんなとは、一つ年上の先輩の穂乃果たちのことである。

午前中に入学式とその片付けを終え、少し早いけど部室に来たのだろうと二人は思っていた。

凛が部屋の扉に手をかけ開けるのと同時に大声が響き渡る。

「遅いわよ、あんたたち！！」

声の主はスクールアイドル部のOGであり、音乃木坂の卒業生で元μ'sのメンバー、そしてスクールアイドル部前部長であり、前身のアイドル研究部時代からの生え抜きの矢澤にこである。

自身を宇宙ナンバーワンアイドルと称し、アイドルに対し誰よりも熱く、そして真剣である。

またμ's一お調子者であり、年下からもからかわれるなどのいじられキャラである。

真姫とはいつも喧嘩をしているが、仲もとても良く、μ'sのメンバーからは、二人が付き合っているという設定になっている。

この話題を当人に振ると、両者ともに全力で否定するが... 扉が開くと同時に大声を出したにこに対し、そこにいるのがさも当然かのような態度で、二人は部屋へ入る。

「にこちゃんどうやって入ったの？鍵は？」

花陽の問いに対しにこは厳しい口調で後輩を責め立てる。

「 開いてたわよ！ちょっと 不用心じゃないの！？

ここには大事な優勝旗もあるし、私が善意で貸してあげたDVDもあるのよ。戸締りは注意しなさいよ！」

先輩の厳しい叱責に、素直に反省の弁を述べる花陽。

「ごめんなさい、気をつけます...」 学校だし、そんなことが起きる可能性は少ないにしても注意すべきことである。

実際に午前中に絵里が、そして今にこがスクールアイドル部OGとはいえ、無断で入室していた。

こればかりは後輩として怒られても仕方ないだろう。

「まあその件についてはもういいわ。これからは気をつけなさいね。」

At Otonokizaka Academy, on the same afternoon as the entrance ceremony. Two girls were walking down the corridor of the school building.

One girl moved as if she were dancing, with light and agile steps. The other, with a less confident gait, seemed to drag her feet in contrast.

Kayo-chin, we really have to decide what to do today. New students will start coming in from next week.

The girl with the heavier steps was addressed by Rin Hoshizora. A second-year student at Otonokizaka Academy, Rin served as the second leader of μ's. Known for her exceptional athletic abilities, Rin was bright, energetic, and active. Although not academically strong (especially in English), her extraordinary athletic prowess had always attracted scouts from sports clubs. A notable trait of hers was ending her sentences with "nya", claiming that she could talk to cats.

Um, yeah... we should decide soon...

The one who replied hesitantly was Hanayo Koizumi, also a second-year at Otonokizaka Academy and the second president of the School Idol Club. (The first president, of course, was Nico Yazawa.) Hanayo's love for idols was unmatched, but she was typically quiet and shy, finding it hard to stand out. She also loved white rice as much as idols, and her appetite was on par with Honoka's in μ's. Hanayo claimed she could distinguish different types of white rice by taste. Her catchphrase was "Dareka Tasukete" (Someone help me), often used in times of trouble.

Hanayo and Rin had been close childhood friends, always seen together. Along with Maki, they formed the younger group of μ's, who had just advanced to their second year in April. And Hanayo had taken over the School Idol Club presidency from the graduated Nico Yazawa.

Today seemed to be an important day for Hanayo to make some decisions for the School Idol Club.

Hey... Rin-chan, what do you think we should do?

Hanayo asked softly, lacking confidence.

Hmm, let's see. Rin will follow whatever Kayo-chin decides. After all, you're the president of the School Idol Club.

The two were as usual. Despite being the president, Hanayo hadn't changed much from before. She was lively and transformed when it came to idols, but she struggled with being the center of attention or making decisions. In fact, she still didn't think she was cut out for the role.

Rin felt similarly. Like Hanayo, she lacked confidence in herself and was conscious about not being very girlish. (In reality, her short haircut made her quite cute...) A fashion show event had helped her gain some self-confidence, but she still found it hard to take the initiative. Rin believed her whimsical nature came from being a cat in a past life.

I wonder how the entrance ceremony went this morning.

Didn't you see Maki-chan's email, Kayo-chin?

Oh, I saw that. I was just wondering, you know, how it went. Our entrance ceremony only had 28 people in one class. This year, there were so many more students.

Ah, I see. I wonder how it was. Our time was a bit lonely in the big gymnasium with so few people, but this year the number was about 50 times more. Plus, Honoka-chan sang, so I bet the ceremony was fun and lively.

About 50 times more? Rin-chan, you're so random. Just like a whimsical cat from a past life, thought Hanayo.

But indeed, Rin was right. The ceremony was as lively as a concert venue.

Continuing their conversation, the two headed to a room.

I wonder if Nico-chan will come today too.

She'll definitely come. Nico-chan seems to have a lot of free time.

If she comes today, it'll be six days in a row. Nico-chan's junior college is starting soon, right?

Surely Nico-chan will keep coming, even when her college starts.

That's true... Nico-chan's school is in Ichigaya, right? It's close to Akihabara, so it seems likely she'll come.

She'll come for sure. After all, it's Nico-chan.

As they talked about their senior, the legendary Nico Yazawa, they walked cheerfully towards the club room.

But upon reaching the club room, Rin noticed something.

The club room door is open. I wonder if everyone's already here?

By "everyone," Rin meant their seniors like Honoka.

They thought the seniors might have come to the club room after finishing the entrance ceremony and its cleanup a bit early. As Rin reached for the door to open it, a loud voice rang out.

You're late, both of you!!

The voice belonged to Nico Yazawa, an alumna of Otonokizaka, former μ's member, and former School Idol Club president. She proudly called herself the number one idol in the universe, passionate and serious about being an idol. Nico was the joker of μ's, often teased by her juniors. Although she frequently bickered with Maki, they had a great relationship, and the other μ's members joked that they were a couple. Both Nico and Maki would vehemently deny this when asked... As the door opened with Nico's loud voice, the two girls entered the room as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

How did you get in here, Nico-chan? Where's the key?

Nico chastised her juniors sternly in response to Hanayo's question.

It was open! You're being careless! There are important trophies here, and the DVDs I kindly lent are here too. Be careful with locking up!

Hanayo sincerely apologized, realizing the importance of the matter, even though the likelihood of such an incident at school was low.

Okay, that's enough about that. Just be more careful in the future.
